KLPGA: 2009 Lotte Mart Women’s Open Rd 2

Round 2 started in foggy conditions with six players tied for the lead.  Among those players was rookie Soo Jin Yang, the most touted of the new rookie class on tour.  Soo Jin did not get off to a good start on day 2, however.  Right out of the gate she made a triple bogey.  Although she played even par the rest of the way, she still fell from a tie for the lead to a tie for 8th.

Meanwhile, one of the 30+ players within a few shots of the lead had a good day and found herself at the top of the leaderboard by the end of the day.  That player was unheralded 20 year old Soo Hwa Jang.  Jang now sits at 3 under, but boy, she has a lot of firepower looming just behind her.

In solo second is 18 year old superstar So Yeon Ryu.  She had her second straight 71 to sit at 2 under, one shot back.  Ryu played well last week, but was not able to get the win; could this be her week?

At 1 under is a host of great players, including Hee Kyung Seo, Sun Ju Ahn and Ha Neul Kim.  Just two shots back, any one of those proven winners could get the job done tomorrow.

Also at 1 under is rookie Seon Hwa Lee 2.  She is not the same player as the LPGA star Seon Hwa Lee.  But can she get an early leap on Soo Jin Yang for Rookie of the Year?

Among the LPGA stars in attendance, Eun Hee Ji and Jin Joo Hong both shot 74s and are 4 shots back.  Still well within range of the leader.  Michelle Wie, however, shot a 75 and is at 8 over par.
